Posts: 1588 (10/14/05 09:22:32) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Tags : None - Both are extremely generous with their time and talent, and obviously very serious about helping writers develop their craft. - Dave must wear a suit of mail. - Mark is impressively even-handedâdoesnât spare his friends, nor go for the jugular just because heâs been handed a sword. - They were probably separated at birth ( ) because they identify with each otherâs struggle with emotional detachment and the resulting difficulty to write scene (is that an accurate way to say it?) - If you say something to irritate Mark, wait an hour and heâll get over it. - Dave has some really innovative ways of accomplishing what he sets out to do. I only wish I'd done my homework prior so I could've added to the conversation...story of my life. Being a bit of a slow learner, I'm not sure I can delineate specific things I learned. But boy do I have a lot to think about. The good news is, barring another message board crash, the notes and comments will be here for further review. What I learned about Mark and Dave? They both have big brains...and they know how to use 'em. Thanks again, guys. Mike

Jumping between Dave and Mark's blogs for the past week has been very enlightening. Many points were made which I'd never considered, and the few differences in opinion only served to illuminate the work from two unique viewpoints. I have little doubt what was presented will help me (and others) become a better writer. - Kenn

Posts: 250 (10/15/05 19:25:34) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	I learned that my boss has a long-standing bias against tons of dialogue ... and my strength is dialogue and my books are packed with it. I saw him--really saw him--as a "writer" for the first time, while before he'd always been an "editor" to me (even though I knew he'd published books and short stories, etc). I learned that he is incredibly brave to put his work out here--particularly a work written five years ago--for open-heart surgery. I am awed. I learned that Mark is as brilliant as I suspected he was, but that he was still able to come down and talk on my level. That takes extraordinary talent. The both of you did an awesome job. My hat's off to you. Thanks for such a huge undertaking. It was extremely beneficial for me personally, and I'm sure for the FIFers corporately. Deeanne P.S. I think you're brilliant, too, Dave--not just Mark.
