I just got to spend a day reading! I'm so excited! A whole day of uninterupted words! (my husband loves me
I read Solstice Wood by Patricia Mckillip all in one sitting and had to hold my hand back from underlining every word. I also finished reading Myrren's Gift by Fiona McIntosh and was more than peeved that the book store didn't have the second book, Blood and Memory, in stock--so was left hanging in a most horrible way. And I even got to make huge strides on my current WIP. Wow, what a perfect day! I am now reading The Curse of Chalion by Lois McMaster Bujold, and already enraptured. ______________ Shadow of the Wood |

just finished Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See. Sort of a Sue Monk Kidd for China. I love international fiction.
will start John Connolly's The Book of Lost Things today. I have to admit, I picked it up cuz I like the cover and it seemed like a childhood fantasy, which i'm in the mood for. but i don't know a thing about it! "Matt and Marnie"

Oh, I had The Secret Fan on my list, but hadn't bought it yet. Thanks for the reminder!
I finished The Curse of Chalion a few days ago and was very surprised at the happy ending. Wasn't expecting that for sure. But then, there's still two more stories in the trillogy--not sure I'll read them, though. I started Blood and Memory, the sequil to Myrren's Gift, but then got caught up in Ranger's Aprentice by Flanagan (YA). I should be finishing that today. Then I might just move on to The Seven Songs of Merlin by T.A. Barron. I'm kind of in a low mantinance mode with my reading right now. YA books do good for just plain entertainment. While I've been doing work for a craft fair I also was listening to some books on tape. I got The Second Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants in there |

I'm reading Dean Koontz's Brother Odd. Very good book with spiritual sensibility. Mr. Koontz has a lot of wisdom to share. Also check out The Taking for a "rapture" story.

Brother Odd is definitely one of Koontz's best, IMO. I thought the concept behind The Taking fascinating, but the book as a whole was so badly paced and the characters so paper-thin that it took all of the determination I could muster to finish it. Of all Koontz's novels, however, the most spiritually poignant and interesting would have to be By the Light of the Moon.

By the Light of the Moon was good, but I have to say my favorite is One Door Away From Heaven. The concept regarding the "aliens" was really a neat revelation. And then the characters go about revealing God's love to people. Anyway, I enjoy his prose quite a bit. He enjoys telling stories and I enjoy reading them.

Non-fiction: The Prayer Life by Andrew Murray; The Soul Winner by Spurgeon. I'm on this weird classics thing.
Fiction: The Howard Pyle version of The Story of King Arthur and His Knights and the Merry Adventures of Robin Hood...and whichever of my stack I feel like tackling next. Just finished Ender's Game. Paradise War by Lawhead is probably next. I'd Read Crime Scene Jerusalem, but it's not talking to me yet. |

almost finished Straight Man - a Snyder rec, and I can see why. Not only do I love this book, but I think Snyder himself is the main character.
By the way, the ad flashing at the bottom of my fif screen right now: which celebutanat is hotter? paris hilton, lindsay lohan, nicole richie. Vote now! i'd better register my thoughts. "Matt and Marnie" at Infuze

Loved Straight Man.
Also finally finished The Character of Theology by John Franke. Incredible book. For all those interested in theology and/or philosophy, I highly recommend flipping through this one. Now reading Harvesting the Heart by Jodi Piccoult. Seems like a young work. Beginning is loaded with backstory, and I have to admit, I'm not at a "can't put it down" point.
