This sounds crazy, but around Thanksgiving we lost a library book. I looked everywhere for it in the house, every book shelf, took apart the couches, etc. There are a lot of places a book can hide here. I renewed it online and looked for another three weeks, and then I renewed it online again.

I even checked in the library to make sure it hadn't been returned and simply not scanned. They have three copies, and the paperback wasn't on the shelf.

I was pretty much resolved to pay for a new book when I asked my guardian angel to find the book for me, because I couldn't find it. I figured he'd just move it so I'd fall over it in the morning or something.

Well, the next day, guess what? I didn't find the book. {What, you were expecting it would be at my place at the table?}

Anyhow, it was reaching the time when I had to renew the book online again or start wracking up late fees, so I went into the system to do this, and the book was no longer listed as being out with us! ("You hacker," I thought.) So I checked the listing for the book, and it was listed as being out with another patron of the library.

The only thing I can figure is that when I returned the book, I must have used the outdoor book drop, and it must have gotten jammed between the outer and inner bins, and they found it six weeks later. Either that or the angel knew if he gave it back to me, I'd just lose it again, so he returned it himself.

So all may not be lost...or at least, the book may not be lost.
