Posts: 971 (02/14/06 15:52:51) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	After a Valentine's trip to the bookstore, I've added a couple more titles to my "Can't Read Until April" list: Complete Short Stories by Graham Greene A Penguin Classics anthology. I have most of the stories in other editions, but I finally broke down and bought this one. Ancient Sorceries and Other Weird Stories by Algernon Blackwood For dark and stormy nights. When I was a kid, I used to read Blackwood, Lovecraft, August Derleth and M.R. James. There's a new Library of America edition of Lovecraft that I'm on the lookout for, but in the meantime Penguin has this cool edition with an icy green spine. Art & Soul: Signposts for Christians in the Arts by Hilary Brand and Adrienne Chaplin One of those "oh, duh" reads that I should have done a long time ago. Flipping through the pages, I really can't wait. But I have to. All of a sudden I've got hooked on literary journals. Most subscriptions are around $20 a year and every quarter (or so) I get several books that keep me busy until the next quarter. Does this make me a literary snob yet? (Ang, based on that verbage, we'd probably say you don't have a care in the world.)

I'm not sure why, but I couldn't resist the cover on this one. The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova... I'm in the middle of this one and loving it, but I've put it down in order to finish some others.

Got through about 1/3 of it a little bit ago and put it down. Now it stares at me from the shelves, sometimes with an evil eye, other times an inviting one. There are numerous books on these shelves acquired at library 50 cent and $1 sales and Borders going-out-of-business prices and Half Price Books at a faster rate than can be consumed. If I took the time to list them, alas, I'd have no more time to do any actual writing. And, Ang, yes, I think you're a snob. Oh, literary snob. Well, now, that I wouldn't know.
